According to Facebook, this rapidly growing mobile messaging app will continue to operate independently. But if you still think that Facebook acquisition could ruin this app, you can consider two other WhatsApp alternatives: Viber and WeChat.
Very similar to WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat also scan your phone book to identify users. Both Viber and WeChat have the same registration process as WhatsApp. Unlike WhatsApp, both allows you to call users and reply to their messages instantly. Apart from these common features, they're quite different in the case of their world wide popularity and online reputation.
